Physics Department Seminar Series

The Yale Physics Department has many seminar series with the aim of providing information and knowledge to our physics community. These various seminar series are aimed at undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, research staff and faculty.

  • AMO Seminar

    This seminar is run by the Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics group. Speakers are brought in to talk about topics of interest. Seminars are scheduled on an ad hoc basis.

  • Colloquium Outside of Equilibrium

    An open problem chalk talk series for natural phenomena outside of equilibrium, from the formation of sand ripples to the origin and dynamics of living systems.

  • Condensed Matter Seminar

    This weekly seminar is run by the Theoretical Condensed Matter group. Speakers are brought in to talk about topics of interest.

  • Early Career Scientist Seminars

    These seminars are a biweekly seminar held at Wright Lab, with talks generally given by Yale Physics graduate students and postdocs on a variety of topics.

  • Graduate Theory Seminar

    The Graduate Theory Seminar series hosts a bi-weekly reading group, as well as talks twice a semester that cover theoretical topics of interest to a broad audience.

  • Kimball Smith Series

     The Kimball Smith Series tackles issues at the intersection of science, technology, ethics, and global affairs.

  • Nuclear Particle Astrophysics Seminars (NPA)

    These seminars cover recent results and new developments in experimental nuclear, particle and astrophysics.  They are the main research talks of Wright Laboratory.

  • Particle Theory Seminar

    This weekly seminar is run by the Theoretical Particle Physics group. Speakers are brought in to talk about topics of interest.

  • Physics & QBio Hagoromo Hour

    This monthly seminar is run by the Machta group in QBio. Speakers are brought in to talk about topics of interest.

  • Physics x Data Science

    Seminar series for physics initiatives in data science.

  • Yale Physics Professional Development Organization Talks (YPPDO)

    These seminars are focused on providing PhDs and postdocs with information, contacts, and resources on a range of career opportunities, especially outside academia.
