From March 26-31, fifteen present and past members of Wright Lab’s Yale Relativistic Heavy Ion group (RHIG) joined more than 300 scientists in Aschaffenburg, Germany to attend the 11th International Conference on Hard and Electromagnetic Probes of High-Energy Nuclear Collisions (A.K.A. Hard Probes 2023).
Current RHIG postdoctoral associate Isaac Mooney and graduate students Caitie Beattie and Andrew Tamis presented updates on their ALICE and STAR studies, while associate research scientist Laura Havener had the honor of presenting one of the conference summaries, “Highlights, open questions and perspectives: Jets and high pT”. In addition, seven Yale postdoc and student alumni presented at this conference, four in plenary sessions.
During the same week, RHIG graduate student Youqi Song served as Yale’s ambassador at the DIS 23, the 30th in a series of annual workshops on Deep-Inelastic Scattering (DIS) and Related Subjects at Michigan State University in Michigan. Youqi presented a very well received talk on her recent results of measuring jet substructure in proton-proton collisions at STAR.
