Event description:

The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider commenced operations in the year 2000 and has produced a veritable wealth of new insights into the properties of strongly interacting matter in the two decades since then. Jack Sandweiss participated in this exciting scientific campaign since its inception as a member of the STAR collaboration and coauthored all 88 Physical Review Letters published by the STAR team since 2001. In my lecture, I will review some of the main scientific achievements of the RHIC physics program, as well as its impact on physics more broadly, and give an outlook on what may be more to come.
