Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) is the quantum field theory describing the strong interaction. With the increasing data set at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) as well as theoretical advances, measurements of QCD observables have now reached an unprecedented level of precision, in particular in the hyperon sector.
In this talk, two state-of-the-art measurements from ALICE at the LHC will be presented. The first consists in a test of the CPT (Charge-Parity-Time) symmetry via the highly precise mass difference measurement between particle and anti-particle for multi-strange baryons (Xi-[dss] and Omega-[sss]) in proton-proton collisions. The second provides insight into the production mechanisms of strange quarks in small collision systems; it is motivated in the context of the so-called strangeness enhancement and done via the measurement of the correlation between identified hadrons. The experimental results are discussed in connection with theoretical predictions. Finally, I will close with a discussion on future experimental measurements of heavy-flavour hadrons using multi-strange baryons in proton-proton and heavy-ion collisions.
