Event description:

In this talk I will discuss predictions for the compressilibty, spin susceptibility and quasi-particle lifetimes for a gas of cold atoms near the unitary limit. Our predictions valid in a window of scattering lengths ranging 1< k_F a <10, is they arise from a systematic expansion in 1/(k_f a), but breakdown when the quasi-particle picture breaks down as on approaches the unitary limit. All predictions are given in terms of the mass, chemical potential, fermi momentum and the Tan contact parameter. The lever used to make this predictions is anomaly matching.
