At Yale’s West Campus, scientists and engineers in the Energy Sciences Institute (ESI) carry out research aimed at developing new ways to capture, convert and store energy from renewable sources such as the wind and sun to enable the world to completely transition from fossil fuels to sustainable alternatives. Disciplines represented include Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, and Physics. An overview of the history, current program, and facilities of the ESI will be presented.
