Event description:

The circuit model of quantum computing is based on quantum mechanics. If there would be a unique quantum model of computation, then quantum field theories can be efficiently simulated by quantum computers. I will discuss a program to efficiently simulate (1+1)-conformal field theories based on anyonic chains and insights gained from the efficient quantum simulation of TQFTs. The talk is based on the joint work with Shokrian Zini arXiv:1706.08497.
