Francesco Iachello (JW Gibbs Professor of Physics) has been elected to the Academia Europaea, based in London, U.K., and established, in part, to rival the National Academy in the U.S.A. The induction ceremony will take place in 2014. With this election Prof. Iachello is now a member of the oldest (Accademia Galileana, Padova, Italy, established 1599) and the youngest (Academia Europaea, London, U.K., established 1988) World Academies.
