Francesco Iachello (Gibbs Professor of Physics) has been awarded the 2008 Commemorative Medal from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. This was awarded “for exceptional contributions to theoretical many-body physics, in particular for continuing illumination of the fundamental role that various types of symmetries play in nature”. He has been invited to receive the medal and deliver a lecture in March 2008
