Welcome Dallas DeMartini Postdoctoral Associate

September 16, 2022

Welcome to Dallas DeMartini who comes to us as a postdoctoral associate from Stony Brook University. He is working with Yoram Alhassid in Sloane Physics Lab in the area of theoretical nuclear physics.

DeMartini completed his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016. After that he attended Stony Brook University and completed his Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Edward Shuryak in 2022. Outside of physics, he enjoys running and playing and collecting video games.

About his research DeMartini states, “My research interests broadly cover theoretical aspects of nonperturbative nuclear physics. For my Ph.D. research, I studied potential signatures of the hypothetical QCD critical point in heavy-ion collisions and constructed statistical models of topological objects in QCD as a way to explain the confinement and chiral symmetry breaking. At Yale, I am shifting to work on nuclear structure physics. I am using modern numerical techniques to study statistical properties of heavy nuclei at finite temperatures.”
