David Poland (Assistant Professor of Physics), together with a team of 14 other researchers, has been funded by the Simons Foundation to create a new “Simons Collaboration on the Non-Perturbative Bootstrap”. Building on David’s discovery that conformal bootstrap techniques can be used to solve the 3D Ising model with unprecedented precision, this collaboration will spearhead a growing international effort to use symmetries and general principles of quantum mechanics together with modern computational tools to map out the space of strongly-coupled quantum field theories.
