It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the sad news that one of our recent alum, Dr. Nathan Cooper, passed away on 3rd of October in his apartment in South Bend, Indiana. He was just 35 years old. He earned his PhD in 2015 from Yale with a thesis titled “Structure of A = 76 Nuclei and Fast-Timing Studies of the Rare-Earth Region” with Volker Werner as his advisor. His thesis was the last of Yale PhD theses to come out of Yale’s tandem accelerator at the Wright Nuclear Structure Laboratory.
