On August 3, Wright Lab opened its door to the new Wright Lab Exploration Wing (WLE). Wright Lab Exploration Wing (WLE) is an addition to Wright Lab that has been under construction since June 2024. It includes new offices, research and technical facilities along with the Advanced Instrumentation Development Center (AIDC).
The AIDC is a hub for research instrumentation efforts at Yale and will house several technical cores including: advanced prototyping, the professional and research shops, electronics, and CAD design and engineering support.
The WLE, with the AIDC, will enhance the current capabilities of Wright Lab, support Wright Lab’s mission, and enable frontier research innovation well into the future.
Karsten Heeger, Eugene Higgins Professor of Physics and the Director of Yale’s Wright Lab said, “The Wright Lab Exploration Wing provides the Wright Lab community with amazing new state-of-the-art facilities for our research and training, supporting our program in fundamental discovery science and quantum science.”
The new front entrance to Wright Lab is located off of the intersection of Whitney Avenue and Humphrey Street, across from the Yale Peabody Museum. The move into the new facilities will continue to take place over the next few weeks, and the official opening of WLE and AIDC will be announced later in the Fall.
