Biographical Sketch:
Shenyang Shi received his BSc from Fudan University in 2020 and Ph.D. in Physics from Columbia University in 2026. In July, he joined the Yale Physics Department as a Postdoctoral Associate in Prof. Reina Maruyama’s group, focusing on axion dark matter direct detection in the ALPHA project. His research interests include rare event search experiment , low-noise experimental techniques, and machine-learning-based data analysis. Outside of research, he enjoys gardening, camping, and surfing.
Research:

I’m generally interested in rare event searches for physics beyond the Standard Model, especially dark matter direct detection. I am interested in developing machine learning methods and experimental techniques to identify weak signals in background-dominated large datasets.
