A Measurement of Sigma-Plus formation at 180 Degrees by Negative Kaons near 700 Mev/C
Dissertation Abstract:
We have measured the cross section for the reaction K(‘-) p (—>) (SIGMA)(‘+) (pi)(‘-) at incident kaon momenta of 642, 663, 681, 715, and 739 MeV/c. Our results are concentrated in the kinematic region defined by COS((THETA)(,K-(pi))) > 0.95. A comparison of our results with published partial wave analyses is made and the implications for the resonances in the mass region 1660 MeV/c(‘2) are discussed.
