R. Shankar (John Randolph Huffman Professor of Physics) is the 2009 winner of the Julius Edgar Lilienfeld Prize, “awarded for outstanding contributions to physics by a single individual who also has exceptional skills in lecturing to diverse audiences”. His citation reads,

Robert Schoelkopf (Professor of Applied Physics & Physics) has been awarded the 2009 Joseph F. Keithley Award for Advances in Measurement Science, “for outstanding advances in measurement science or products that impact the physics community by providing better measurements”. His citation reads,
For development of techniques for high frequency measurements of mesoscopic physics and quantum noise, including the radio-frequency single-electron transistor and absolute thermometry based on electron shot-noise.
Shankar and Schoelkopf will receive their awards at the annual APS meeting next spring.
