Research Interests

My research investigates the biophysical principles governing protein stability, self-assembly, and structure–function relationships in biologically and therapeutically relevant systems. Drawing on training in molecular biophysics, biochemistry, spectroscopy, structural biology, and molecular biology, I develop and apply biochemical and biophysical approaches to characterize proteins and protein complexes.

My current work focuses on squid lens S-crystallins, a family of globular proteins that underlie the graded refractive-index profile of the cephalopod lens. I investigate how isoform diversity, protein–protein interactions, and the structural and thermodynamic determinants of molecular association influence S-crystallin assembly, stability, and collective optical function.

Biography

 I am an experimental biochemist and molecular biophysicist with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University. My research integrates protein biochemistry, structural biology, spectroscopy, and quantitative biophysics to investigate protein structure–function relationships and self-assembly. I am broadly interested in biological materials, protein engineering, and therapeutic-protein science. Before Yale, I completed an integrated BS-MS degree in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali in India. Outside the laboratory, I am an avid hiker, an amateur food scientist, and a dancer.
