Research Interests
I am a cosmologist working at the interface of theory, data analysis and methodology, with expertise in cosmic microwave background physics and Galactic foregrounds, clustering and dynamics of large-scale structure, testing the foundations of the standard cosmological model, and the development of computational tools — notably from optimal transport theory — for cosmological problems. Two current highlights: the cosmic dipole anomaly, where the dipole in the distribution of distant sources exceeds the kinematic expectation from the CMB dipole and challenges the Cosmological Principle; and optimal transport reconstruction of the linear density field using the distribution of matter at low redshift, benefiting a.o. the precision of baryon acoustic oscillation measurements.
Research Areas
Astrophysics and cosmology — observational and theoretical cosmology, covering large-scale structure, the cosmic microwave background, and fundamental tests of the ΛCDM standard model of cosmology, with a strong statistical and computational component. I am joining as an Associate Research Scientist, working with Prof. Nikhil Padmanabhan.
Biography
I completed my PhD at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. I undertook my postdoctoral research at INRIA Nancy and Institut d’Astrophysique de Paris, France, and subsequently at the University of Oxford, where I was as a Fellow of the Carlsberg Foundation, where I worked alongside Prof Subir Sarkar, and later Beecroft Fellow in Cosmology, where I worked in the group of Prof Pedro Ferreira. At the University of Oxford I also was Lecturer in Physics for Balliol College. I just joined Yale Physics as Associate Research Scientist in the group of Prof Nikhil Padmanabhan.
